Rufus Wainwright’s new album “Release the Stars” was supposed to be wonderful. It was supposed to rock my world; it was going to change my life. I literally counted down the days to its release and leapt out of bed yesterday morning to download it LEGALLY from iTunes, just so I could have a copy in excellent quality. And by that, I mean that I don’t believe in using programs like LimeWire to download music for free, NO WAY, not me.

But when I first heard the album on the way to work, and then as I listened to it on repeat for eight hours yesterday, I realized that it was not changing my life. It was hardly changing my day. And THAT was crushingly disappointing.

I take solace, however, in the fact that my roommate was even more devastated by the incredibly weak and emo album released by the recently-castrated Linkin Park. At least I wasn’t alone in my sorrow.
